Day-3   12/6

Hoover Dam was totally changed. It might be great for faster traffic but I like the old Hoover Dam showing two clocks of differnt times - Nevada and Arizona. We passed new roads and could not see the Dam at all.
After Hoover Dam, we visited new Grand Canyon Skywalk built about 2 years ago. The West Rim where the Skywalk is was 6,212 ft above sea level and 17F at 2PM on the day. Cold!!

This map shows the location of the Skywalk.

It seems they don't want to use the name of the Skywalk but like the name of the Grand Canyon West and the Skywalk is merely a part of the Grand Canyon West.

It is more than 1 km high from the bottom of the canyon. It is sccary to walk the transparent glass top.

Picture taking is forbidden on the Skywalk. All cameras were requested to store in rocker room before to pass metal detector to get in to the Skywalk. There are photographers taking expensive pictures - $30 a piece. Skywalk itself is very expensive also - $70 to get in!! I could understand $70/person admission fee as they have to recover their investment ASAP, but $30 a piece of photo was too much. I paid $80 to get a USB memory which contains all pictures they took (7 pictures) and many pictures of Skywalk sceneries.

It is 2 years past since they opened the Skywalk. However, you have to drive about 10 miles of unpaved road to get in to Skywalk and there is no clear sign to the Skywalk on HWY-89. As the result, this is what it is !!
