Hawaii Cruise
4/25 - 5/1, 2010

Day - 2    4/25 Sun.

Arrived Hilo, Hawaii      : 08:00 AM

Excursion (Volcano & Rainbow Falls de Luxe)  : 09:00 - 16:30

Visited Rainbow Falls and Macadamias Plantation on the way to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. On the way to the park, the engine of our bus stopped and we had to wait about 40 min. for another bus to arrive to rescue us. On the way back to ship, we also visited Tropical Garden.

Departed Hilo, Hawaii for Kahului, Maui : 18:00

Sailed south of Hawaii Island to show lava flowing to ocean in the dark night. It was visible but too far as the big ship could not approach to the shore to much. Please see the video at the bottom of this page.

Day - 3    4/26 Mon.

Sailed whole day through channels and north of Molokai Island. We could see Plantation Golf Course in northwestern tip of Maui far a way where we played golf in Feb. 2000, celebrating Jane's 60th. birthday, with K. M. Shim couple.

Excursion on 4/25 - "Rainbow Falls and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park de Luxe."

Macadamias Plantation - Mauna Loa. Operation was stopped as it was Sunday. We looked in through windows and spent some time at the shop.

Kilauea Volcano in Big Island

 No lava could be seen. Smoke only.

 Lava Tube - A tunnel created by lava flow.

 Another crater observed from the bus.

 These were all we could see. I wanted to see the active lava flow but the excursion to see the lava was discontinued. I am very disappointed to the tour.

 We have stopped at this Tropical Garden on the way back to the ship. 
There were many orchids and other flowers, but nothing special. Another disappointing tour spot.
