There are many Sequoia trees (a type of redwood tree) in the Muir Woods National Monument, along with many other kinds of trees. Muir Woods is located about 15 miles from San Francisco.  Many tourists visit the park every day, especially on weekends. Since D. I. had been there only once before (a few years ago to guide a friend from Spain), and since Jane had never been there, D.I. suggested while crossing the Golden Gate Bridge that they stop by Muir Woods.

The park has four trails on which you can walk around and see the park. The shortest one takes a little less than an hour, while the longest takes about three hours (or longer if you stop to admire all the trees). Among all the many different kinds of trees is a very interesting one (above, bottom, with Jane), in which the trunk grows horizontally while its many small branches grow vertically.
