On the third and final day (12/11), they left the motel in the morning and drove about an hour to Shasta Lake. The Shasta Lake is more recreational area with a lot of boating and camping activities in summer rather than tourist spot for sightseeing. Since it was a rainy winter day, it seemed there were not many visitors. When they bought tickets of a group tour to the cavern, they were the only members of 10:00AM tour group. It was more like a private tour as they were only passengers of the boat crossing the lake for about 10 minutes to the other side of the lake to go to the cavern. They took a tour bus (only 4 passengers again) to the cavern for another 10 minutes climbing about 800 feet and a lady tour guide who drove the boat and the tour bus gave tour to them all the way, just for them only for about two hours of tour in total.

It was quite a big cavern with many large rooms and high ceilings. It was very wet cave with lot of water still dropping from ceilings. They found two tiny mushroom growing in this dark cave. Because it was too big for the flash light of small digital camera, please understand the pictures above which could not regenerate natural colors.

The bear was displayed at the outside of the cave in the entrance building of the cave. The bottom picture shows a part of Shasta Lake (far less than 10% of whole lake) taken from the entrance building of the cave on this rainy day (very light rain).

After they enjoyed this wonderful cavern tour, they left the lake around noon, drove Highway 5 and highway 80 to Novato where D. I.'s aunt has her younger brother. D. I. dropped two ladies there from where they will leave for Korea next day at San Francisco airport.

It was a great very enjoyable trip for all four travelers except the accident at high elevation, which could be also a unusual interesting memory quite a long time. D. I. and Jane were very glad and happy to see aunt first time after 13 years, when she visited D. I.'s house in Seoul on his Hwankap (69th. birthday) while D. I. was working for Samsung Electronics and lived in Korea for 10 years.
