Akihabara
in Tokyo - This huge shopping area specialized for electronics
products, especially for Home Appliances, Computers and Radio Communication
Equipment, has been slowly developed from a few small shops handling U. S.
Army surplus radio communication equipments during U.S. occupation of Japan
after the World War II. It has been well known to tourists one time as a
place to buy any electronics product at the cheapest price in the world, but
not any more. Many of them are much cheaper in U.S.A. these days.
