제7구간 10/22 - 10/24
호텔이 고급호텔이라 식당도 있어, 아침을 식당에서 일찍 먹고, 하동에는 12시 약속이 되어있어 통영에서 8시에 떠나 하동으로 향했읍니다.
관광은 차를 몰고가면서 구경을 했기때문에 본것이라고는 무수한 섬들과 바다지만, 경치는 곳곳이 아름다워 달릴만 했고, 하동에는 약속시간보다
약 5분 늦게 예정대로 도착하여 자동차 정비사업을하는 DS5FTS OM의 사업장에 도착하였읍니다.
Since the hotel had
a restaurant, we took breakfast early and left for Hadong to arrive there by
12:00 noon. We had sightseeing just driving and looking the beautiful
scenery. We arrived at the DS5FTS's car repair shop as planned.
그곳에는 DS4GKA OM과 HL4LT OM이 기다리고 있어 반갑게 인사를 했는데, DS4GKA OM은 Van지붕에 안테나를 세우고
“DS4GKA”의 Call Sign을 붙이고 있어 재미있었고, HL4LT OM은 목사라는데 성경과 위배되어 ham radio를
중단했답니다. 성경에 위배되어 햄을 안한다는 사람은 처음 만났고, 목사, 신부, 신자 햄이 전세계에 얼마든지 있고, 우선 HL5IL
OM도 독실한 기독교 신자인데, 무슨 말인지? Ham Radio가 성경의 어느 구절에 위배되는지? 질문을 했지만, 명확한 대답은 얻지
못했읍니다. OM의 기분을 상하게 할수 없어 긴 얘기는 안했지만, 정말로 색다른 목사를 만났고, 이것이 한국 기독교의 문제점중의 하나가
아닌가 싶었읍니다.
어쨌든 세OM과 만나 하동 명물인 “재첩국” 식당에 갔는데, 아주 작은 조갯살이 무수히 들어간 음식으로, 색다른 음식을 맛있게
먹었읍니다. 이번 여행에서는 하동뿐 아니라 가는곳 마다 그지방 특유의 음식을 맛볼수 있어, 또하나의 즐거운 여행이었읍니다.
DS4GKA and DS4LT
OMs were also waiting us there and greeted us. DS4GKA had a radio antenna at
the top of his van with the sign of "DS4GKA". HL4LT said hi is a Christian
preacher and discontinued ham life because it is against bible. I have never
heard Ham Radio has a conflict with bible and seen so many preachers,
catholic fathers and monks enjoying the ham radio. I asked which part of
bible conflicts with ham radio but could not get any clear answer. I didn't
want to hurt him and didn't talk any further, but he was a very strange
unusual preacher and I think this is a part of problem of Korean
Christianity.
Anyway, we went to
a restaurant which serves "Jechikook", a special food in Hadong with very
tiny shell meats. During this trip, not only in Hadong, we were entertained
with special local foods in many places here and there.
점심후에는 DS5FTS OM의 운전으로, 우선 조용남의 노래로 유명해진 “화개장터”를 찾아갔읍니다. 상당히 넓은 대지에 많은 기와집
초가집이 들어서있어, 그지방의 특산물을 팔고있고, 방문객이 무척이나 많이 와있어 재미있게 구경을 하였고, 거기서 다시 인근의 쌍계사라는
절을 찾아갔으나, 때마침 일요일이라 그랬는지 관광객이 너무 많아 자동차의 진입을 차단하고 있어서, 입구에서 포기하고 되돌아 왔읍니다.
여담으로 경상도 남쪽으로 내려오니, 절이 그렇게 많아, 서울의 교회 같았는데, 가는곳 마다 절 안내판이 서있었읍니다. 이곳은 625사변
때에 맥아더장군이 한반도를 서울 근처의 중앙부에서 차단을 하니까, 남쪽 까지 내려왔든 인민군들이 북한으로 가지를 못하고 지리산으로 도망가서
숨었든 지리산의 남단으로, 낮에는 대한민국이지만 밤에는 인민군 빨치산들이 민가로 내려와 음식을 강요하여, 밤에는 인민공화국 치하에
들어갔든 곳으로, 빨치산 토벌이 완전히 끝날 때까지, 10년이 넘게 수없는 희생자를 낸 격전지였고, 하동시의 산위에는 그 위령탑이
서있었읍니다.
After the lunch,
DS5FTS drove us to the "Hwagae Market" which became very famous by the hit
song "Hwagae Market" of top singer Yong-Nam Cho. It was quite a large
market with very crowded by very many visitors. It was a interesting place
and we enjoyed the visit very much. Then, we went to the the SSangesa temple
which was too crowded by sightseers, maybe, because it was a Sunday. We
could not drive all the way to the temple, gave up the visit and returned
to Hadong. By the way, there were so many temples in southern Korea just as
many churches in Seoul. This Hadong area is a part of Chii mountains
where North Korean soldiers escaped during the Korean War, when Gen.
McArthur cut off the middle part of Korea, became a partisan, came down to
the village and forced people to give foods in every nights with guns.
Therefore, this area became The People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) in
the night and
returned to be the Republic of Korea during the day. So many people were
killed during this conflict every day and they had a great memorial tower at
the top of the mountain in Hadong.
이정도에서 세 OMs에게 73를 고하고, 진주를 향했읍니다. 그동안 DS5FTS OM과 진주의 HL5QO OM 은 수시로 연락하며 우리가
진주에 몇시에 도착할것인가의 연락을 하고 있는것 같았읍니다. 이날 진주에 도착한것이 오후 4:00시 경? 호텔에 도착하니
HL5QO/HL5JRR PP가 호텔에서 기다리고 있다가 반갑게 마지하여 주었읍니다. HL5QO OM은 수일전에 전립선 수술을 하여 행동이
불편하면서도 나와주셨고, HL5JRR YL은 OM을 대신하여 자동차를 운전하며, 우리를 태우고 다녔읍니다.
We said 73
(good-bye) at this point and headed for Jinju. It looked like DS5FTS OM was
contacting HL5QO OM in Jinju waiting for us, continuously informing when we
would arrive Jinju. We arrived Jinju hotel at around 4:00 PM where
HL5QO/HL5JRR PP (couple) were waiting for us. HL5QO OM had a prostate
surgery a few days ago, could not drive a car but came to the hotel to see
us. XYL (wife) HL5JRR was driving the car instead.
우선 간곳이 기생 논개가 임진왜란 때에 왜장을 껴앉고 남강으로 투신자살한 촉석루가 있는 진주성으로 거기에는 지질학을 전공한 학자님인
HL5RM OM이 기다리고있다가, 우리를 안내하여 해박한 지식으로 임진왜란 당시의 얘기를 해주어, 일부는 알고있는 얘기였지만 정말 자세한
얘기를 들어 많은 공부가 되었읍니다. 그래서 거기서 촉석루에도 올라가보고, 기생 논개가 왜장을 껴안고 함께 투신자살한 바위도 보고, 마침
몇일전에 축전이 있었다는데 한복을 입은 민속전시가 진주성 안에 많이 설치되어 있어, 재미있는 구경을 많이 하였읍니다. 더구나 보통은
닫혀있다는 기생 논개의 사당이 문이 열려있어 논개의 모습을 볼수가 있었읍니다. 이렇게 진주성 구경을 하고, 모두 함께 유명한 진주특산인
진주냉면의 본산인 하연옥에 가서 진주냉면을 먹었는데, 진주냉면은 재료도 여러가지가 많이 들어가 있고 정말 맛있는 냉면이었읍니다.
We went to the
historical Jinju Castle first. There is a famous story of Gisaeng (woman
entertainer) "Nongae" who held Japanese general with two arms, jumped to the
Namgang River and both died together, during the Japanese Invasion to Korea
about 500 years ago. We met HL5RM who was the college professor with a
great knowledge of history. He told the historical story to us and we
learned a lot from him. We went up to Choksukroo where Nongae and other
Gisaengs entertained Japanese Army officials and a flat rock where Nongae
jumped to the river with Japanese General. Jinju city happened to have a
festival a few days ago and there were quite a decoration of old people in
Jinju Castle which were also very interesting. We were lucky on the day as
the Nongae shrine was open and we could see Nongae through the open door,
which had been usually closed. After the Jinju Castle, we went to a famous
restaurant serving Jinju Noodle, a special noodle of Jinju, which was very
delicious.
다음날인 10/23에는 전주근처 진안으로 HL4YJ OM을 찾아갔읍니다. 지난 2년반을 On the air를 하면서 여러 HL STNs와
QSO를 했는데, HL4 Area에서는 유일하게 QSO를 한 OM입니다. 마침 진안 농협에 나와 있어 쉽게 만날수가 있어, 거기서 OM
QTH로갔는데, 우선 높은 철탑위의 Cubical Quad가 인상적이었읍니다. Ham Radio를 위하여 전주에서 QSY를 했다는데,
조그마한 방에 shack가 있었고, 거기서 한동안 옛얘기를 하다가 진안 시내로 나와, 진안 특산의 “애저(출생전의 새끼 돼지)”음식을
먹었읍니다. 보통의 돼지고기보다 담백하고, 아주 연하여 특이한 음식이었읍니다. 점심후에 역시 진안특산의 인삼밭을 구경가자는것으로 알았드니
농협의 인삼판매장으로 가서 비싼 홍삼을 사주려해서, 구지 거절했드니, 역시 진안 특산인 버섯을 구지 사주셔서, 너무 거절하는것도 실례일것
같아 받아는 왔지만, 그것도 꽤나 비싼 물건이었읍니다..
Next day on 10/23,
we drove to Jinan to meet HL4YJ OM. He was the only ham I could make QSO (contact) in HL4 call area during 2.5 years of the operation of KE6AJ
station. He was happened to be in downtown when we arrived Jinan and we met
easily there. we drove to his house and his high antenna tower in farming
flat land was very impressive and I could understand how I could make QSO
with him easily. he had a shack in a small room and we have talked about old
stories of Korean ham radio for a while there. Then, we came back to
downtown, went to a restaurant where the Jinan specialized food called
"Aejeo" was served. It was a specialized food of baby pigs still not born
yet. I have tasted it for the first time. It was not as fat as pork and very
soft, a special taste.
진안에서 과분한 대접을 받고 마지막 예방지인 청주로 갔읍니다. 청주는 우리가 고교시절에 3년을 살든 곳으로, 나는 청주고등학교 출신이고,
HM1AM은 청주 중앙국민학교가 모교입니다. 청주에 들어서서 우선 놀란것은, 조용한 교육도시는 어디로 갔는지? 흔적도 없고, 청주와
조치원사이의 길 양쪽에 있든 농토도 완전히 사라져버리고, 거대한 상업도시로 변하여, 어디가 어딘지? 전혀모르겠었읍니다.우리둘의 모교를
찾아가 볼려고 했으나, 청고는 이사를 가서, 옛자리가 어딘지? 지도에도 안나오니 찾아갈수도 없었읍니다.
After the great
entertainment of HL4YJ OM in Jinan, we drove to Chungju, the last
destination of this trip and where both of us, HM1AM and HM1AJ, were
educated for a few years, high school for me and elementary school for
HM1AM. When we entered to the city, I was really surprised to the great
change of the Chungju City. There was no trace of old quiet small
educational city, but it was totally changed to a huge commercial city with
so many big buildings and shops. There were quite a long farming land between Chungju and Chochiwon. Now, two cities were connected by buildings and looked
like one city. I tried to find Chungju High School where I have finished
high school but could not, as it has moved and old school site did not show
in the map any more.
그러고 두번째로 놀란것은 약속된 식당을 찾아갔드니, 벽에 커다랗게 “KE6AJ 조동인 오엠님, 고향방문을 환영합니다”라는 포스터가
걸려있어, 정말 놀랐읍니다.이것이 누구의 아이디어인지는 모르겠지만 5명의 OMs가 우리를 기다리고있어서, 반갑게 인사를하고 재미있는
이야기를 나누다가, 저녁식사후에는 DS3EXX OM 댁으로 QSY하여 DS3EXX의 XYL인 DS3FGN YL 과도 인사를하고 9시가
넘도록 Rag Chew를 계속하다가, DS3EXX OM이 수고스럽게도 호텔까지 태워다 주었읍니다. 여기서 호텔근처에는 아침부터 영업하는
식당이 없으니, 내일 아침은 자기집에 와서 먹으라는 친절한 offer를 받아, 그렇게 하기로 하였고, 햄들의 친절에 다시한번
감탄하였읍니다.
The next happening
surprised me was : when we entered to the restaurant where we were going to
have dinner with hams in Chungju, there was a big sign on the wall saying
"KE6AJ Cho Dong-In OM - Welcome Bacdk to Home Town" I didn't ask whose idea
it was but there were 5 Chungju hams waiting for us welcoming us. We had a
great time talking about old ham radio in Korea taking wonderful dinner
there, we QSYed (moved) DS3EXX OM's house where we met his XYL (wife) DS3FGN
who is not active as most of YL stations were in Korea. Later, DS3EXX OM was
so kind to take us to our hotel, as we went to the restaurant by taxi. Also,
as the hotel does not have restaurant and I had to walk several blocks to
find a restaurant tomorrow morning to have a breakfast, DS3FGN YL offered us the
breakfast tomorrow morning. We accepted her kind offer to come to their
house by 8:00 AM tomorrow morning and I was really amazed again to such a
kind friendship of hams wherever we go.
지방여행 마지막날인 다음날 10/24에, 원래는 청주를 둘러보고 늦으막히 서울로 갈려고 했었으나, 아침 8:00 AM까지 DS3EXX
OM댁에 가서 아침식사를 잘 얻어먹고 떠나서, 청주로 되돌아가려니까, 거기가 조치원을 거이 다 가서이기 때문에 청주에서 멀기도하고,
어짜피 청고는 어디에 있는지 찾지도 못하겠고, 청주가 너무 변하여 옛추억을 더듬을 곳은 전혀 없을것 같아, 막바로 서울로 향했읍니다.
청주에서 이렇게 환대를 받았는데, 특히 각별한 친절을 보여주신 DS3EXX OM과 DS3FGN YL에게 깊은 감사를 드립니다.
On the last day of the country trip,
we were going to drive around the Chungju city before we go back to Seoul.
However, by the time we went to DS5EXX's home by 8:00 AM and had a great
Korean food breakfast, it was too late to go back to Chungju as DS3EXX's
house was almost to Chochiwon and Chungju was too far a way to go back.
DS3EXX/DS3FGN PP (couple) were so kind during our visit to Chungju and we
will never forget their kindness. Manny many thanks.
이래서 서울로 향했는데, DS3EXX OM이 경부고속도로는 차가 많으니 중부고속도로로 가는것이 좋을꺼라고하여, 중부고속도로로 올라왔는데,
서울에 가까이 와서 이천근처에서 경부고속도로로 왔어야하는것을 Navigator가 중부고속으로 가라고만 나와 그대로 그지시를 따르다보니
구리까지 갔읍니다. 구리는 많이 들어 익숙한 시명이지만 어디에 있는지는 잘 모르는데, 도로표시도 서울 표시는 없이 계속 구리만 나와
이상하다고 차를 세우고 Smartphone으로 위치를 check해보니 이미 구리시까지 와있어, 거기서 서울로 왔는데 한참 시간 낭비를
했읍니다.
Now, we were
heading for Seoul and DS3EXX OM suggested Central Highwqay rather than
Seoul-Pusan Highway-1. Therefore, we took Central Highway and we were
supposed to change to Highway-1 when we approach to Seoul. However,
navigator didn't indicate to get out of Central Highway to go to Highway-1
or I missed what navigator asked, I continued Central Highway all the
way to Koori City which is northeastern city of Seoul. I found it when I
stopped the car and checked location with my smartphone as I felt something
is going wrong. As the result, I made a detour to northeast of Seoul wasting
quite a time.
The following will
not be translated as it is not important.
이번에 6일간의 지방여행을 직접 운전하며 돌았는데,
1) 도로는 기가 막히게 잘 되어있어, 어디를 가나 지방도로까지도 잘 정비가 되어 있었고, 도로표지도 일본과 같은형식으로 잘
되어있었는데, 시내에서 좁은 골목이 많아, 그런곳에서 회전을 하다가 벽에 오른쪽을 부욱 긁혔읍니다. 넓은 미국도로만 운전하다가, 좁은길에
익숙지 않아서 그랬는데, 덕분에 떠나는 첫날 타이어를 빵구내어 2시간을 지연시키고 타이어집에 150,000원, 차를 반납하면서 사고보험의
Deductable인 500,000원 ($430)을 지불하여, 수리비만 650,000원.을 지불하여서($570), Rent Car비용
480,000원($420)보다 훨씬 더 많은 수리비로 지불하였읍니다. 이게 모두 좁은길에 익숙지 않은 내 실수에 의한것이니 할수 없지요.
hi hi 그래도 San Jose에서 Vancouver까지 일방통행 3일간의 Rent Car 비용 $1,500보다는 훨씬 쌉니다. hi
2) 자동차에 달려있는 Navigator는 낙제점입니다. 그래도 그 Navigator 덕분에 6일간 낫선땅을 찾아다녔지만, 미국의
Navigator는 갈곳만 뚜렷이 표시하여 simple한 표시를 하는데, 한국의 Navigator는 뭐가 그리 표시가 많은지? 길 양쪽의
건물 이름까지 왜 표시를 하는지? 그것을 누가 읽을 필요도 없고, 읽지도 않을텐데 복잡만 하여 운전하면서 보기만 힘듭니다. 옛날에
삼성에서 Video사업부에게 어짜피 대부분의 집에서 RECORD/PLAY만 하니 그것만 되는 간단한 Video Tape Recorder를
만들어 싸게 팔자고 했드니, 한국에서는 그렇게 simple한것은 안팔리고, 안쓰드라도 많은 기능을 붙여서 비싸게 팔아야 팔린다고해서
할말이 없었는데, Navigator도 마찬가지인것 같았읍니다.. hi hi 그러면서 정확도는 많이 떨어저 금방 우로 가랬다가 갑자기 좌로
가라고하고, 많은 사람이 차에 부착된 Navigator보다는 Mobile Phone을 더 많이 이용한다고 하였읍니다. 나도 이번여행에서,
미국에서는 그렇게 많은 운전을하면서도 그런 미스를 낸 일이 없는데, 대구에서 울산을 가면서 밀양까지 갔다가 올라왔고, 서울에 오면서
구리까지 갔다왔읍니다. 거기에 계속 “사고 다발지역입니다"“집중단속 구간입니다”를 연발하는데, 그대로라면 사고다발지역 아닌곳이 없고
집중단속 안하는데가 없겠드군요. 그저 시끄러울뿐 아무소용도 없는 친절이었읍니다.
할말은 많지만 이정도로 끝내고 이번 여행중 각별한 친절을 보여주신 40명의 지방 각도시에서 만난 YL/OMs에게 정말로 마음속으로 부터의
감사를 드리고 싶습니다. MNI MNI MNI THX.
