CHONGJU HOUSE DURING KOREAN WAR

During Korean War, Seoul was a battle zone and occupied by communists army twice. When Seoul was invaded second time by Chinese Red Army, Cho family escaped to Pusan first. Then, our grandfather got a job as an English teacher at Chongju Commercial High School and moved to Chongju, where they lived for almost 3 years and my father finished high school. The Cho Family (our grandparents, two aunts, father and cousin Seong-Koo) all lived in this small two bedrooms (about 150 sq. ft. each) house built by mud bricks and  provided by the school at the backyard of Chongju Commercial High School.

Our grandfather, who loved animals, had chicken, turkeys, goats at the tiny backyard of this house and D.I. had many rabbits in several rabbit cages shown at lower right of the picture.
