Visit Korea after 14 Years

9/25 - 10/31, 2017

It has been 14 years since D. I. visited Korea though only 5 years for Jane. She visited Korea in 2012.
This time, we are planning to visit Korea for about 2 weeks

1) to meet our families, relatives and friends before it is too late to visit.
2) to meet ham radio friends
3) to travel around Korea for a week to see latest development of Korea.

제4구간  10/11 - 10/13

10/11 5:00 PM에 Hakodate를 떠난 배는, 10/12 하루 종일 일본의 동해안을 따라 남하하여, 10/13 아침 06:00 정각에 드디어 종착지인 Yokohama에 도착하여, 16일간에 걸친 지겨운 항해를 끝냈읍니다. 배가 도착하여 아침식사를 끝낸후에 08:00부터 이민국직원이 배에 들어와서 이민수속을 하였고, 08:30경에 배에서 하선. 오래동안 타고온 Ms. Valendam(Cruse선 이름)에게 88를 고하였읍니다.

Our ship left Hakodate at 5:00PM on 10/11 and sailed whole day of 10/12 along the east Pacific coast of Japan to our final destination of Yokohama. The ship arrived Yokohama at 6:00 AM sharp on 10/13 and, finally, completed 16 days of long sailing. After the breakfast at the ship, we started immigration process at the ship, landed at around 08:30 AM and sent good-bye to Ms. Valendam (Cruise ship name).

거기서 관광Bus를 타고 동경의 관광에 나섰고, 한시간 이상을 달려 10:00가 다 되어 유명한 明治神宮에 도착하여 관광이 시작되었읍니다. 明治神宮은 오는 2,020년에 100주년을 마지한다고 하며, 한시간의 시간을 주며 관광을 하라는데, 明治神宮이 워낙 커서 전체의 10%-20%를 겨우보았을 뿐, 本殿(본관) 근처를 돌아보는것으로 끝낼수 밖에 없었읍니다. 이明治神宮을 제대로 볼려면 만 하루는 잡아야 가능하지 않을까 싶은데, 일본 근대화를 성취하여, 오늘날 일본을 이런 강국으로 만든 위업을 성취한 위대한 천황이었음을 다시한번 실감하게 했읍니다.

We left the ship and went to Meiji Shrine with tour bus driving about an hour through Tokyo passing Ginza. We arrived Meiji Shrine by 10:00 AM and was asked to spend about an hour to look around the shrine, which will celebrate 100th. year in 2,020. However, it was so huge shrine and we could see only about 10 - 20% of the shrine. I think it will take whole day at least to see whole shrine perhaps. Emperor Meiji opened door of Japan to western culture in early 20th. century and created a strong Japan as is now. I could feel his great achievement looking around the shrine.

거기서 11:30경에 출발하여 다음으로 간곳이 Asakusa 의 淺草寺(Sensoji). 이 淺草寺는 서기 634년에 어부 형제가 강에서 투망을 던저 고기를 잡든중에 佛像을 건저, 이 절을 지어 불상을 모셔놓은것이라합니다. 지금은 유명한 관광지로, 많은 관광객이 몰려와 절 앞에 세워진 상점가가 더 유명할정도입니다.

비는 부슬 부슬 내리고, 점심시간은 다 되었고, 淺草寺관광은 기권하기로하고 일행이 관광하는 동안에 근처 식당에서 점심을 먹었읍니다. 근처의 식당에 들어가 뭐든지 빨리되는 음식을 먹겠다고 했드니, 덴동(덴뿌라 돈부리)을 약 3분만에 갖어와서, 주어진 시간내에 점심을 먹을수있어, 그후에 막바로 Narita공항으로 가니 오후3:00가 다 되었읍니다. 거기서 2시간반 정도 기다렸다가, 5:00PM발 대한항공편으로 한국으로 향했읍니다. 출발/도착 모두 약 20분이 지연되어, 5:20PM에 Narita를 출발,  7:40PM에 인천공항에 도착하여, 드디어 14년만에 한국땅을 밟았고, 옥수동에 있는 큰아들 집까지 택시로 갔드니 9:00PM이 조금 넘었읍니다. 잠자리에 든것은 11:00PM. 어찌나 피곤했든지, 5시간을 정신 없이 잤읍니다. hi hi.

After the Meiji Shrine, we went to Asakusa and visited Sensoji Temple, which was built in 634 when two brothers were using the net to catch fish in the nearby river and found a Bhuda Statue from the net. Now, it became a very popular sightseeing spot in Tokyo and the shopping center in front of the temple seems to be attracting more visitors everyday.

It was rainy and almost lunch hour. We gave up the sightseeing of Sensoji, went in to a nearby restaurant and took a lunch instead. I asked to bring whatever they can serve fast and they brought Dendon (Dembra Donburi) in 3 min. and we could finish the lunch on time. From there, we drove to Narita Airport arriving at almost 3:00PM. We took Korean Airline flight from there at 5:20 PM and arrived Inchon Airport at 7:40 PM. When we arrive to Willy's house in Oksoodong, Seoul, it was after 9:00 PM and we were so tired. We went to bed at 11:00PM and I slept very well for 5 hours on the first night in Seoul.
